OUR HISTORY

How We Started

The Will Bureau (TWB) was established on 30th August 1991. At that time it was intended to offer basic wills for the clients of a small firm of Independent Financial Advisers (IFA). I was a director of the IFA firm and simply wanted to ensure clients of that brokerage made Wills. I researched the market, undertook training and became the only employee of TWB.

From those humble beginnings, TWB evolved over the years. I left the IFA firm and developed TWB, whilst building my knowledge, skills and establishing further relationships in the financial services industry.

A significant landmark in the company’s story was when it moved to the offices in Southgate in 2003. The move enabled the company to recruit additional staff and consultants. On day one of the move, the team comprised of me, my assistant and three part time consultants. Today the TWB family comprises of eighteen people and growing.

TWB now offers a full range of estate planning services. This includes a wide range of Wills, from straightforward through to comprehensive Wills with layers of trusts within. We prepare Lasting Powers of Attorney, Advanced decisions and advise on estate planning strategies. Estate planning is not just about Inheritance Tax, but planning the devolvement of assets between generations in a manner that protects family wealth from a variety of risk.

Market and Clients

The vast majority of our clients are referred to us by other professional advisers. Wealth Managers, IFAs, Accountants, Banks and solicitors have all referred clients to TWB. We also have  many clients referred to us by other clients – always a good indicator of client satisfaction.

Approximately one third of our clients are multi-millionaires, one third are millionaires and one third who are aspiring millionaires! However, all clients are treated the same, regardless of wealth. We offer a personal, bespoke service and we aim to build strong relationships with all of our clients, their families and advisers.

Future Plans and Development

We plan to expand the advisory side of our business by offering additional services to clients. Additionally we intend to recruit more advisers who we shall train to be experts in our field of work. The training comprises of both internal examinations and for the serious adviser, training leading to a professional qualification recognised throughout the world.
